Projects and Practical Experience

A selection of technical projects and experience across industrial automation, electrical systems, commissioning, technical support and process improvement.

These examples are intended to reflect practical experience, implementation capability and real-world delivery, while always respecting industrial confidentiality and legal boundaries.

International Automation Pineapple

International pineapple grading project in Malaysia

International project developed in 2014 for a pineapple grading line with automatic fruit treatment before entry into the grader.

Objective

Grade pineapples by weight, diameter and color, integrating a fungicide application zone on the crown and base of the fruit with efficient control of the application position.

My role

  • Budgeting and supplier negotiation
  • Electrical design and automation
  • Factory testing and technical support during startup

Impact

The machine was tested and prepared for shipment, with the application system adjusted for greater efficiency and reduced waste.

Portugal Automation Multi-fruit

Frutitaipina

Project developed in 2014, in Cantanhede, for a multi-fruit grading and packing line with automation, traceability and different product output modes.

Objective

Develop a line capable of handling unloading, selection, grading, filling and packing of fruit with different physical characteristics.

My role

  • Material survey and management
  • Electrical schematics, PLC and HMI
  • Factory testing and on-site commissioning

Impact

The result was a capable and functional machine, helping increase customer productivity in an automated line with traceability.

Spain Robotics Apple

Hortoverín

Project developed between 2017 and 2018 in Verín, Spain, for a water-based apple pre-grading line with integrated automation, functional safety, traceability and robotic control.

Objective

Implement a water-based pre-grading solution capable of handling treatment, selection, filling and product routing with reliable control and customer validation.

My role

I assessed requirements, negotiated with suppliers, developed schematics, implemented Sysmac, EtherCAT and Safety, programmed the solution, tested it, commissioned it and trained the customer.

Impact

The line was successfully implemented and validated by the customer, demonstrating the ability to deliver a robust pre-grading solution with functional robotic control.

Relocation Logistics Apple

International relocation of a grading line from Italy to Portugal

Project developed between 2023 and 2024 for the dismantling, transport, reinstallation and startup in Portugal of a water-based apple pre-grading line.

Objective

Coordinate the full transfer of the line between Italy and Portugal, ensuring an organized reinstallation and successful startup at the customer's site.

My role

I coordinated dismantling, logistics, customer communication, support to temporary teams, reception in Portugal, assembly, testing, startup and final training.

Impact

The line was successfully reinstalled and put back into operation, allowing the customer to regain a functioning solution in Portugal.
